About Galpharm
Galpharm was founded in 1982 by Graham Leslie with the vision of offering a range of OTC medicines and other healthcare products to the multiple retail and wholesale sectors. Graham is still the principal shareholder in Galpharm and the Company Chairman.
Today Galpharm provides OTC medicines to virtually all the major UK multiple retailers, in both grocery and pharmacy, making Galpharm the leading private label medicine supplier in the UK. On average every person in the UK buys 2-3 packs of Galpharm produced medicines every year at prices that are typically 20% to 75% less than the equivalent leading brands1. Our own Galpharm brands of the popular painkillers Ibuprofen and Paracetamol are the most widely used in the UK, significantly outselling the "leading" brands2. Our own Galpharm brands of Cetirizine and Loratadine, used to treat hayfever and other allergies, are also market leaders3.
Innovation
Galpharm is one of the most innovative companies in the OTC market. We have an unrivalled record of switching prescription products to make them available over-the-counter. Our primary concern is patient safety and we work to the exacting standards of the UK Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) to prove the safety and efficacy of our products. By doing so we open up new ways for people to treat minor ailments by themselves rather than always having to see their doctor.
Galpharm employs about 65 people at our purpose-built distribution and office complex at Dodworth, South Yorkshire. From here we distribute our products to almost every major retailer and wholesaler in the UK and to a rapidly growing number of international customers. We source our products from all over the globe, seeking out the best quality products at the most competitive prices to meet the increasing need for affordable, high quality medicine. Our suppliers include companies in the UK, Ireland, USA, Greece, Netherlands, Spain, Hungary, Israel and India.
Our Quality Assurance team ensures that our rigorous quality standards are adhered to in all our facilities. We audit all our suppliers on a regular basis covering not just product quality issues but issues of social accountability also.
